HIST 3280 - American Military History from 1500 to 1890 Credits: (3) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Significance of military affairs in the context of American political, economic, and social history from the formation of the earliest colonial militias to the pre-World War I preparedness movement. Discusses major wars of this period but also emphasizes such themes as the professionalization of the officer corps, the relationship between war and technology, and civil-military relations.
