MFET 5300G - Principles of Engineering (POE) Credits: (5) Description: POE is designed to help students understand the field and the career possibilities of engineering and engineering technology. Students work on the problem-solving skills that are used at the college level and in the workplace, and they explore engineering systems and manufacturing processes. Students learn how engineers address concerns about the social and political consequences of technological change. The course meets for a total of 75 hours over a two-week period and focuses on the content as well as teaching methods appropriate for the course. This course is designed specifically and only for current high school teachers who have been assigned by their schools and districts to teach the Project Lead the Way courses in their respective schools. These courses carry graduate credit for those teachers who would use them as part of a master’s degree program or for recertification.
