MUSC 1130 - Sight-Singing & Aural Skills I Credits: (1) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Course Fee: $20.00 Course Fee Purpose: This fee will be used to support instructional technology. Description: Development of aural skills needed to function as a musician and teacher. Emphasis on progressively advancing aural perception. Pre-requisite(s): Complete Theory Placement exam with a score of 70% or higher or MUSC 1100 with a grade of “C” or higher. A student scoring a 3 on the AP Music Theory Exam may enroll in Sight-Singing and Aural Skills without taking the placement exam. A student scoring a 4 on the AP Music Theory Exam may enroll in Sight-Singing and Aural Skills II (MUSC 1140 ) without taking the placement exam. A student scoring a 5 on the AP Music Theory Exam may enroll in Sight-Singing and Aural Skills III (MUSC 2130 ). The student, however, must enroll in these courses within a year of completing the AP Music Theory Exam. After one year, the student will be required to take the Music Theory Placement Exam and their former AP score is no longer recognized. Co-Requisite(s): Must be taken concurrently with MUSC 1110 . Note: Music Majors and Minors only.
