EDUC 3240 - Reading Instruction in the Intermediate Grades Credits: (3) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem Description: This course will provide theories, methods, and assessments for reading in the elementary school, Grades 3-6. Students will understand reading instruction in relation to the wider processes of literacy and language development to guide elementary students to effectively communicate through oral and written languages for different contexts, which includes text-based and digital environments. The course will also include the contemporary issues on elementary reading instruction. May include field experiences that involve travel to local schools or other relevant destinations. Pre-requisite(s): Admission to Teacher Education. Completion of Elementary Education Level 1 courses with a grade of B- or better. Suggested Requisite(s): This course is part of Elementary Education Level 2 and should be taken concurrently with EDUC 3100 , EDUC 3210 , EDUC 4345 , PEP 3620 .
