NRSG 7002 - Transitions to Practice II Credits: (3) Typically Taught Summer Semester: Full Sem Description: The course provides students with a foundation for understanding the process and phases of transition to the role of a nurse practitioner, the requirements for credentialing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), participation in professional organizations, and regulatory compliance. An understanding of issues related to health policy, healthcare delivery, access and quality of care, ethical and legal role expansion implications, negotiating contracts, billing and reimbursement, and general leadership competencies are presented. Students explore and articulate a variety of nurse practitioner roles including direct and indirect healthcare possibility.
