REC 1309 - Avalanche Level 2 Credits: (1) Typically Taught Spring Semester: 1st Block Course Fee: $100.00 Course Fee Purpose: This course has a fee attached. Course fees are established in order to benefit the students in this course and may, among other things, be used to cover the costs of equipment replacement and maintenance, consumable materials, licensure examinations, or to meet specific regulatory requirements. Examples of course fee expenditures for this course include equipment such as avalanche beacons, avalanche probes, collapsible shovels, avalanche airbags, ski helmets, first aid supplies, spare batteries, and ski wax. Description: This course is intended for individuals wishing to expand their understanding of avalanche problem types and group risk management systems for travel in avalanche terrain, whether backcountry skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, or mountaineering. Suggested Requisite(s): REC 1307 and REC 1308 .
