Course Fee Purpose: Course fees are designed to cover the costs of lab equipment maintenance and replacement including desktop and server computer systems and software; consumable materials and supplies; and support for lab aides, student tutors, and online instructional resources.
Description: This course provides hands-on experience with writing programs using UNIX system calls and inter-process Communication mechanisms, from simple file I/O and I/O management subsystems to network client and server programs. The internal design and operation of the UNIX operating systems are studied. A detailed examination of the UNIX SVR4 source code will be included in the course.
