ART 4440 - Interaction Design Credits: (3) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem Course Fee: $70.00 Course Fee Purpose: KA 3D studio lab equipment, materials & assistance, KA digital lab access, equipment, software, printing, studio lab materials, equipment, maintenance. Description: This course is an introduction to the principles of interaction design as it relates to physical and digital space, with a focus on designing user-centered artifacts like interactive publications and apps for hand-held devices. Theoretical concepts like ethnography, user-testing, and the use of mapping in design will be explored. We will also explore the landscape of technology as it relates to interaction, and the use of appropriate tools and software to create prototypes and functioning digital designs. Pre-requisite(s): ART 3445 or consent of instructor. May be repeated once for credit.
