MCJ 6080 - Media and Crime Credits: (3) Typically Taught Summer Semester: Full Sem - Online Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem - Online Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem - Online Description: This class uses a combination of criminal justice, sociology, and cultural studies to guide students as they examine the relationship between broad media (including social, movies, television, and music), and crime. Students will become familiar with the theoretical lenses used to assess media effects and cultural criminology. Crime and media construction, image, moral panics, and the impact of the internet on crime and deviance will also be explored.
