ARTH 3200 - The Art and Archaeology of Greece Credits: (4) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Description: This course will explore sites, like Mycenae, Athens, Olympia, and Delphi, and historical impacts, like the Persian War, spread of democracy, and Alexander the Great’s campaigns, to study and understand the art and architecture created. We will approach these topics through the archaeology of the Greek world from the bronze age through the end of the hellenistic period (ca. 3000-30 BCE). This class will be centered around the objects to learn how Greek culture is studied through the places they built and the objects they made. Suggested Requisite(s): ARTH 1090 or ARTH 1100 or ART 1040 or ANTH 2030 .
