CS 5580 - Data Science Algorithms Credits: (3) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem Description: This course serves as the gateway to the data science curriculum, emphasizing practical application and mastering foundational tools. Students will learn to implement essential data workflow steps using Python and standard data science libraries. A major focus is placed on the vital process of data wrangling-acquiring, cleaning, and structuring data-and applying diverse data visualization methods to explore datasets ,identify patterns and discover actionable insights. Students will also be introduced to fundamental machine learning concepts. Pre-requisite(s): ((CS 1400 and CS 2550 ) or CS 2420 ) and (MATH 1040 or MATH 1120 or MATH 3410 or QUAN 2600 ) and (at least 60 hours of completed credits) or graduate standing.
