CS 6580 - Data Science Capstone Credits: (3) Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem Description: This project-based capstone experience bridges the gap between data science theory and professional practice. Students work in small teams to tackle a complex, real-world problem of their choosing, frequently sponsored by an industry partner, non-profit, or research lab. You will navigate the complete data science lifecycle-from problem formulation and data acquisition to advanced modeling, interpretation, and deployment. The course emphasizes project management, stakeholder communication, and delivering actionable, high-impact insights to a non-technical audience. Students will conclude the semester by presenting their findings and delivering a production-ready data product, which will serve as a cornerstone of their professional portfolio. Pre-requisite(s): CS 5580 .
