CHEM 6350  - Industrial Polymers

Credits: (3)
Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem-Online
Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem-Online
Description: This course provides an introduction to industrial polymers, focusing on their commercial importance and the properties that make them essential in various applications. Topics covered include polymer synthesis and nomenclature, molecular weight and molecular weight distribution, methods for polymer characterization and testing, polymer morphology, stereoregular polymers, and polymer blends. The course explores key polymerization techniques such as step-growth, chain-growth, and ring-opening polymerization, as well as an in-depth look at commercially significant addition and condensation polymers.

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of industrial polymers, enabling them to analyze, characterize, and apply these materials in industrial contexts.
