Environmental Science Filmmaking Certificate of Proficiency

The 18-credit hour certificate in Environmental Science Filmmaking provides opportunities for students interested in combining their love of science with a love of storytelling. Students will receive a background in science and in filmmaking that enables them to produce their own films.

  • Program Prerequisite:  None required.  However, some of the individual course options have a prerequisite or corequisite, as shown below.
  • Grade Requirements: A grade of 2.0 or better in all courses used toward the certificate.
  • Credit Hour Requirements: 18 credit hours, apportioned as directed below.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Introduce students to environmental issues from the perspective of science and introduce research principles.
  2. Introduce students to the principles and practices of environmental filmmaking.
  3. Produce students who can make films about environmental issues as told from the perspective of science.
  4. Produce students with marketable skills sought by employers.
