- Minor: Required.
- Grade Requirements: A 2.0 or better in all courses required for this major in addition to an overall GPA of 2.00 (C) or higher.
- Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation; a minimum of 39 of these must be valid English courses. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered 3000 and above); a minimum of 27 of these must be English courses.

Advisement

Major Course Requirements for BA Degree
A minimum of 39 credit hours is required in English courses, of which at least 27 credit hours must be upper division (3000-4000 level courses). A Minor is also required. Common courses - 9 credits
Take each of the following classes: Distribution- 21 credits
*Courses fulfill one distribution requirement may NOT be used to fulfill a second designation requirement Geography Distribution- 9 credits
Take one class in each of the following three geographical categories: British, American, and Global/World Literature British Literature- 3 credits
Take one class American Literature- 3 credits
Take one class Global/World Literature- 3 credits
Take one class Period Distribution- 6 credits
Take two classes, one dealing primarily with literature before 1800 and one after 1800 Literature before 1800- 3 credits
Take one class Literature from 1800 to the present- 3 credits
Take one class Genre Distribution- 6 credits
Take one class in two of the following three categories: poetry, prose fiction/narrative, and drama/film/new media Prose Fiction/Narrative- 3 credits
Drama/Film/New Media- 3 credits
Electives- 6 credits
Take two elective classes Senior seminar or Internship- 3 credits
