Computed Tomography (Certificate of Proficiency)

This program is pending approval from Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

The Computed Tomography Certificate of Proficiency is a one semester certificate program.  Successful completion of the program will allow students to meet all required structured education as required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for registration and certification as a CT technologist.  The program will be offered online in virtual formats.

  • Program Prerequisite: Must be an ARRT registered technologist or acceptable equivalent as determined by the School of Radiologic Sciences, make application and be accepted to the program of choice (refer to the Admission Requirements below).
  • Grade Requirements: After admittance into the program, a GPA of 2.0 is required in all professional courses. A letter grade C or higher is required in all courses to complete the certificate.
  • Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 18 credit hours are required for this certificate of proficiency.

Advisement

Students must meet with a faculty advisor for the program of study selected for course and program review. 

Admission Requirements

  1. Apply for admission to Weber State University;
  2. Apply to the program and submit a $25.00 application fee;
  3. Submit copy of active ARRT certification card;
  4. Submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended;
  5. Complete an academic contract in consultation with a faculty advisor;
  6. The Certificate of Proficiency for Computed Tomography will be declared upon acceptance.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate proper use of imaging equipment
  • Demonstrate proper selection of technical factors to produce diagnostic images
  • Demonstrate proper evaluation and critique of diagnostic images for accuracy of technical factors, patient positioning, anatomy, contrast injection, and pathology.
  • Meet industry (ARRT) standards to become certified as a Computed Tomography technologist.
