Medical Laboratory Sciences Departmental Honors

Please contact Ryan Rowe, ryanrowe@weber.edu in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Department for advisement and permission prior to enrolling in Honors courses.
Program Prerequisite: Declare intent to obtain Department Honors in Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS).
Grade Requirements: Maintain a 3.5 overall GPA.
Requirements for Completion: Prior to graduation of the Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, students must complete the following items:
- Acceptance into the Departmental Honors Program.
- Graduating overall GPA of 3.5, and a departmental GPA of 3.8.
- Must not require a re-take exam for any MLS course, as outlined by the department policy.
- Must score in the top 10% of the MLT ASCP Certification Exam when compared to national scores.
- Research classes, or equivalent, must be completed with a grade of A.
- Students must submit their research for publication in Ergo, and
- Present their research at a national conference, OR
- Submit their research for publication in a national scientific journal.
- Complete at least 20 hours of documented major-related community service, OR donate at least 20 hours of documented time to a major-related professional organization.
- Must hold a leadership role in a major-related activity.
