It presents an overview of the discipline, including the basic theories, concepts, approaches, and enduring questions of political science. The course introduces students to the primary subfields of political science, American, Comparative, International Relations, Political Theory, Public Administration and Public Law. The focus is on the substance of politics, power, and the state. This includes the roles played by states, mass publics, organizations, institutions, and individuals and the output of their interactions on public policy and international relations, providing students with a foundation of knowledge and the analytical skills necessary to understand modern politics in a global and historical context.
