Description: Why and how do writing and reading still matter? This course explores writing since the year 2000, by writers from around the world whose work - directly and indirectly - addresses the urgent issues of today, including but not limited to economic disruption, technological innovation, exclusionary and divisive politics, social alienation, racism, misogyny, colonialism. The course is geared towards students in their first and second year, and includes opportunities to learn more about the Department of English Language and Literature and its programs.
