Description: This course is designed for teachers to understand the principles of chemistry as well as the pedagogical content knowledge to teach the material. This is the first in a two course series designed to examine the principles of general chemistry. Course topics include structure and properties of matter, chemical reactions, definitions of energy, conservation of energy and energy transfer, and electromagnetic radiation. The laboratory emphasizes qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis. This class has a required lab component.
