The Automotive Technology Department curriculum is a “2 + 2” design leading to both an Associate of Applied Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree. Stackable Certificates of Proficiency are available at the AAS and BS degree levels.

Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology

With an Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology degree emphasizing Electrical Engineering Technology, students develop expertise in vehicle electronics, electrical systems, and emerging technologies like electric and autonomous vehicles. This specialized degree blends automotive engineering principles with advanced electrical and electronic systems.

Automotive Service Technology

With an Automotive Service Technology AAS degree, students gain a broad range of skills and knowledge essential for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining modern vehicles. Lab and classroom courses align with the ASE Education Foundation’s Master Automotive Service Technician (MAST) standards.

The ASE Education Foundation accredits our AAS degree. Upon completion of the program and the required work experience as set by ASE, students may sit in on A1-A8 or T1-T8, G1, xEV Level 1 and 2, and L3 certifications provided by ASE.

The Automotive Technology BS degree prepares graduates for employment in various automotive-related industries such as field service operations, fleet management, and technical support. In addition to specific technical training, supporting courses foster the interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills needed to advance in the automotive service industry. An AA/AS/AAS in automotive technology is a prerequisite to the BS degree.

Student Organization

The Auto Tech Club encompasses the Weber Racing team. Each year, Weber Racing designs, builds, races, and mock-sells a mini Baja vehicle. They compete in Baja SAE races across the country. All majors are welcome to join.
