Spanish for Healthcare Certificate of Proficiency

The Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish for Healthcare will provide students with concrete evidence that they possess intermediate listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish; intercultural awareness in a medical setting; and foundational knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish.

  • Program Prerequisite: SPAN 1010, 1020, 2010, and 2020
  • Grade Requirements: A grade of “C” or better in all courses used for this certificate.
  • Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 21 credit hours is required.

Advisement

Students will be advised by faculty of the Spanish section, of the Department of World Languages and Cultures.

Admission Requirements

This program is for students who wish to provide potential employers with concrete evidence that they possess intermediate listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish; intercultural awareness in a medical setting; and foundational knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish. Any student admitted to Weber State University may declare this program.

• Demonstrate at least an intermediate level of listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish.
• Demonstrate a foundational knowledge of medical vocabulary in Spanish.
• Demonstrate intercultural awareness in a medical setting.
