GEO 3210 SUS - Paleoclimate Credits: (3) Description: An introduction to climate science and an overview of the paleoclimatic history of Earth focusing on the interactions between geological, climatological, and biological processes in Earth’s systems. Topics include paleoclimate reconstruction using proxies and climate models, how plate tectonics and the carbon cycle affect long-term climate change, insolation controls on monsoons and ice sheets, the Last Glacial Maximum, oscillations in climate, and anthropogenic climate change. Three lectures per week. Pre-requisite(s): GEO 1220 or GEO 3010 . Suggested Requisite(s): GEO 1220 and GEO 3010 . Note: This course is not currently offered.
