NRSG 6210 - Advanced Pathophysiology I Credits: (2) Typically Taught Summer Semester: Full Sem Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem Description: This is the first foundational pathophysiology course for nurse practitioners (NP’s). Students are taught pathophysiology associated with disease and non-disease processes such as pain. Alterations in physiology result in clinical problems and diseases managed by NP’s. Cell dysfunction or deregulation manifests as systemic symptoms and associated disease. Content includes etiology, modifiable risk factors, exposures, physiological mutations, and specific/nonspecific mechanisms to optimize cell-tissue-organ-system function. Students identify, analyze, and evaluate evidence related to disease pathology of specified body systems across the lifespan for future patient management.
