NRSG 6211 - Advanced Pathophysiology II Credits: (2) Typically Taught Summer Semester: Full Sem, Full Sem - Online Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem, Full Sem - Online Typically Taught Spring Semester: Full Sem, Full Sem - Online Description: This is the second foundational pathophysiology course for nurse practitioners (NPs). Students are taught pathophysiology associated with disease and non-disease processes as
applied to nurse practitioner-patient care. Alterations in physiology result in clinical problems and diseases managed by nurse practitioners. Cell dysfunction or deregulation manifests as systemic symptoms and associated disease. Content includes etiology, modifiable risk factors, exposures, physiological mutations, and specific/nonspecific mechanisms to optimize cell-tissue-organ-system function. Students identify, analyze,
and evaluate evidence related to disease pathology of specified body systems across the lifespan for future patient management.
