MSAT 6390 - Foundations of Therapeutic Interventions Credits: (2) Typically Taught Fall Semester: Full Sem Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the contemporary usage and foundation of common therapeutic interventions in musculoskeletal rehabilitation (i.e., cryotherapy, thermotherapy, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, etc.). Through lecture, discussion, and laboratory experience, the scientific basis of musculoskeletal rehabilitation involving these therapeutic interventions will be examined. Students will learn about the body’s response to musculoskeletal injury and the subsequent healing process. Emphasis will be placed on theoretical and physiological effects of therapeutic interventions, their indications and contraindications, and application based on the goals in each phase of rehabilitation.
